You ever meet someone talented, or smart, or beautiful, who doesn’t believe in themselves and you kind of want to shake them by the shoulders, and yell at them that they should definitely believe in themselves? Well, that’s what I’m feeling, and I hope you’ll either excuse me or forgive me, but I’m going to act on it.
First, I think your bio is misleading: I don’t see an “aspiring writer” in your work. You write well, and it’s public. In fact, people are probably being charged to read it (assuming it’s behind the member pay wall). You are a writer.
Second, this is really well written. I have an article on “How to Promote Your Posts on Medium,” and I’m going to attach it below. I picked up on 3 or 4 typos, but I’m fairly certain The Writing Cooperative, a top publication, would’ve accepted this if those small typos were fixed. This is very, very relatable for writers. If not them, there are a number of other publications that would definitely accept it. And then 10, 50, 100 times the amount of people would’ve seen it. Sometimes too publications won’t accept your stuff just because you don’t have that many followers or other “published” posts, but sometimes they will.
I hope I don’t come across as rude, or worse yet preachy, but you’re someone I wanted to shake by the shoulders. I interact with a lot of new writers on Medium, and it’s not something I’ve ever done before.
Great piece! I look forward to reading your future posts
