I figured I'd get that question: The original title was just "How to Cope With the Death of a Pet," but the editor asked if I could change it to "How I Coped With the Death of My Pet" because Medium is in its personal essay era. I pushed back because that definitely sounds like she's passed, which thank God she has not, so we ended up going with this title which I felt does seem to imply the same thing but is also true to reality: I am currently trying to cope with the thoughts of her eventual death because she has been sick so often.

Sorry for the confusion, and I'm going to go take a shower now after having to talk about my Fluffy not being with me in such a business-like way.
