The more I hear from doctors the more it seems like the real culprits are insurance companies and massive health companies that force things to run a certain way. So it’s the usual culprits really—a huge, unfeeling bureaucracy that removes responsibility from all the individuals involved. It’s like how teachers can only teach a standardized course of study. But still, actors in that field have to speak up about it if it’s ever going to change
And I knew it had to be something beyond the individual practitioners because you see the problem everywhere. But you’re right: We’re really both only able to see one side of the problem. I’ve had very little insight into the bureaucracy behind it all, and I’m sure many people in the medical field don’t experience medical treatment the same way the average patient does.
