The Extreme Right and Extreme Left Are Both Missing What the Other Has
Communism and theocracy both need what the other claims to have
By “extreme right” and “extreme left” I mean theocracy and communism, respectively. To be clear about the terms in use, “theocracy” refers to governance by religious figures, and we can use Iran as a model for this. “Communism” refers to a country wherein there is no private property, and we can use Cuba as an example, though the country technically changed its stance on this six years ago.
There are no pure manifestations of either political ideology, there never have been (at least not at scale or for any significant length of time), and I will argue here that there never can be. Yet, both are likely to remain as sought-after political ideals. Interestingly, though they tend to belong to opposite sides of the political spectrum, what each of them lacks can be found in the other.
Communism
All communism needs to succeed is God. More specifically, it requires an incorruptible arbiter to oversee the process of property distribution.
