"The dating apps do not portray people. They often only portray online developer skills."

I love this. Also, from personal experience, I never get past the opening message with so many of my matches. And I feel like messaging them sometimes like, "Unless you're looking for a guy who's the best at sending a first message on a dating app, maybe just help through this and into some actual conversation."

And I mean I guess some of this always happens. Like you could say women in general aren't getting picked up in public by the best guys, just the most confident and extroverted. But I think it's worse on dating apps, in terms of what makes for dating success.
