In principle, probably not best to disparage any group, be insensitive, inflame tensions, etc. I’d also advocate for setting an example when countering something bad. The instinct for revenge, or even fairness, inclines us to feel like we should lower ourselves to the level of the attacker, but it would be nice to try and follow in the footsteps of Obama with “when they go low, we go high,” or MLK and peaceful resistance, Mandela in truth & reconciliation, or Christ in “turn the other cheek.” But it’s easy to say these things when you weren’t the one attacked. It should be pursued as a principle, but in reality, it’s very difficult.
