I think social media is skewing people's perception of reality. Because people really seem to talk about making $100,000 a year like it should be the case for most people.
The median income in the US is around $37,000 a year, so half of all Americans are below that. But people think it's normal to find someone making almost 3x as much as that.
And I've dated so many women that only talk to guys who are 6 feet and up. The average American man is 5'7 and a half! Only 14.5% are over 6 feet. And 41.9% of Americans are obese, so if they don't want him to be heavyset, they've already narrowed themselves to ~7% of men, before we've even factored in personality, income, or single status.
Men definitely deal with their own delusions, but yes, when I meet women who say they want the three sixes (6 feet, 6 figures, and 6 inches), I'm just like "good luck." Because you'll find him, but you'll be in competition with a lot of others.
