I think I kind of agree.
A long time ago I wrote an article titled "Love Is a Forge"
I was arguing that it's initially a very intense emotional experience that crystallizes an appreciation for that other person in your mind, so that once the emotions naturally die down over time you still have this everlasting sense of wellbeing towards that individual.
The analogy being that the emotions were the fire of the forge, and the resulting appreciation was the steel product created thereby.
I think it requires a lot of work to navigate these different transitions in a relationship. It also takes more intentionality to manage things when you don't have passion to smooth things over and lead the way.
