I mean, I know they hid the actions of Unit 731, pardoned the perpetrators, and kept the information. However, the rest of it I find confusing.

I find it much easier to understand how the U.S. is carrying Israel's ally, as they're a long-term ally. But the Japanese were our bitter rivals in WWII!
