I feel like this is such an interesting dynamic. We get this idea that it's to buy somebody something if they're really passionate about it. Like my mom knows I love books, so she'd always send me some, but I almost always already had them.

It's a double-edged sword because of a person has a singular obsession, they're going to be open to more of whatever it is they love, but they're also likely to have a lot of it already and be particular about what they like.

I honestly love it when people just ask me what I want, and I can send them some of the books I have on my list to buy.
