I don't see the US as a static state. I see it as a constantly adapting, tug of war between different forces--a roller coaster ride with ups and downs. A system of governance and a culture like ours is supposed to be messy and backtrack at times. It's up to a mass of individuals to pull it in the right direction at every inflection point.
