Haha well, I guess if we really learned the lessons we wouldn't be repeating them. However, yes, I suppose learning of doesn't include understanding to the point that you recognize signs of a revival.

Japan has an interesting mix of policies. They're a bit like the inverse of the ideal many people strive for in the U.S., which is "socially liberal/fiscally conservative".

Japan seems to be socially conservative, with a lot of well developed infrastructure in the country, more reminiscent of what the Democrats want in the U.S.
