Great article, George! I think art makes a stronger argument than reality. No real-life story is free of some tainting quality. In real life, victims are rarely ever without some blame themselves, villains aren’t as neatly one-dimensional, and effects are difficult to link directly to their causes. In a narrative an author can direct all things to fit a single theme, focusing on the root of a problem that plagues us, whereas the messiness of reality can be quite confusing.
