Definitely, and that's why I don't think this would qualify as a legitimate heuristic because it all depends on that unknown variable of will this actually work eventually. That's why I tried to keep it to things you can reasonably expect.

Having said that, it's been of great benefit in my personal life, to reassure me when things are hard. I just stop and say, "Is it likely this would turn out in my favor?" And then I remind myself that I'm probably closer than I think to reaching the desired end.

But yes, certainly a little life experience and clear thinking to that end makes all the difference.
